Compensation: $20–$22/hour
Are you passionate about art, reading, STEM, or sports? Share your talents with the youth of Sonoma Valley! Boys & Girls Clubs of Sonoma Valley (BGCSV) are seeking enthusiastic Program Assistants who are excited to make a difference in the lives of youth TK- 12th grade.
Program Assistants play a key role in creating a safe, supportive, and engaging environment for our members. Under the supervision of Program Directors, Program Assistants deliver high-quality programs and activities across our elementary, middle, and high school sites in Sonoma.
Qualified candidates will be passionate about youth development, possess special skills or interests that they are enthusiastic to share with our members, such as artistic or athletic abilities, and have experience working with middle or elementary-school-aged youth.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for the care, safety, and supervision of children (members)TK- 12th grade.
- Lead and facilitate program(s) activities compatible with Boys & Girls Clubs core values and department themes for up to 20 youth members at a time.
- Complete safety incident or accident reports for any accident or incident or reoccurring behavior problems.
- Ensure that programs adhere to Club philosophy and run effectively.
- Report to Program Director or Coordinator.
- Responsible for maintaining the classroom, site itself, equipment, and supplies.
- Adhere to organizational policies and procedures as described in Employee Handbook and elsewhere.
- Adhere to Boys & Girls Club philosophy.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Program Director.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Must by 18 years old or older.
- Available Monday-Friday 2:00-6:00 pm, Wednesday 12:15-6:00 pm.
- Flexible, patient, and enthusiastic about working with youth.
- Basic understanding of various stages of child development.
- Ability to lift or carry up to 40 lbs.
- Must pass the Sonoma Valley Unified School District’s instructional aide test with a 70% or better.
- Mustpass a DOJ fingerprint clearance (if 18 or older) and provide a negative TB test.
- Complete and pass mandated reporter training.
RECOMMENDED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Previous experience working with young children in a group setting.
- Able to program a variety of activities for children ages 5-18 years.
- CPR and First Aid certification (or ability to obtain).
- Bilingual skills (Spanish/English) a plus.
